Our community drug education programmes are designed to meet the needs of local communities .
We aim to provide:
- Informative drug and alcohol education
- Explore attitudes and opinions
- Clarify current drug and alcohol legislation
- Provide harm reducation Information
- Signposts to local drug and alcohol treatment Services
All of the above contribute to supporting local community members to make informed descision when responding to drug and alcohol related concerns and available support.
Young People , Schools and Youth Settings
We aim to develop a workshops based on communicating and engaging with young people about their understanding of drug and alcohol related issues. The main focus will be to to give young people a voice and opportunity to express themselves
We use a harm reduction model which is a public health approach to encourage young people to say how drugs relate to them in society. We use a number of creative ways to raise the issue which is both age and material appropriate.

- Replica Drugs "What to watch out for"
- Drama Projects " Developing Self-Esteem"

- Research Projects "exploring public opinions"
We can arrange a number of sessions which we would recommend for an effective programme to be run. Although we can arrange a one off session we would suggest a follow up evaluation .
Peer Education Programmes
Parent and carer's peer education programmes is usually funded by the local Drug and Alcohol Action Team and designed to provide a community based teaching and learning resource for local families and carer's. The Progamme is run over seven weeks and covers a range of topics such as:
- Drug and Alcohol Awareness
- Current Drug and Alcohol Legislation
- Discussing substance misuse
- Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services Provision
- Treatment Service Visit
- Sharing knowledge and Information
- Evaluation and Cerfificates
The overall aim of the programme is to improve education and communication in our communities around the use, treatment and health implications of drug and alcohol use.
As part of local strengthening family programmes we also provide one off sessions as part of wider Parenting Programmes |
