Benefits of attending
This one day training course is open to all professionals who are interested in developing their knowledge of Dual Diagnosis. This course will broaden participant’s knowledge and increase skills in understanding drug misuse and its relation to mental illness. The course is also designed to provide a greater understanding of the stress and complexity in working with Dual Diagnosis clients
Course Objectives
- To broaden participants' knowledge and increase understanding of substance use and its relation to mental illness
- To explore current policies and guidance on how to work more effectively with dual diagnosis
- To provide a greater understanding of the complexity in working with Dual Diagnosis clients.
- To explore good practice and treatment and case management
Course Outline
By the end of this course participants will be able to understand:
- Definitions of dual diagnosis and thier revelvance to practice
- The relationship between substances and mental illness
- Factors affecting service provision
- Principles of good practice, treatment and case management
- To develop an awareness of the groups warranting specific attention
