Benefits of attending
This one day training course is open to all staff who work directly with vulnerable adults who have problematic drug problems and are interested in developing their knowledge of substance misuse. Participants will also develop their knowledge of interventions used to support drug users
Course Objectives
- To broaden participants' knowledge and incrrease understnding of drug use(licit and illicit)
- To explore current polices and guidance on how to work more effectively with probelmatic drug use
- To provide a greater understanding of the challenges and complexity in working with clients and problematice drug use
Course Outline
By the end of this course participants will be able to understand:
- Common definitions and terminologies of drug use and misuse
- Nature, extent and patterns of drug use/mise
- Profiles of drugs of misuse
- Physical, psychological and social aspects of illicit drug use
- Drug misuse related risks and complications
- The misuse of Drugs Act
- The National Strategy
- Drug misuse treatment systems in the UK, including policy and practice issues
