This one day training course is open to all professionals who have attended the 'introduction to Mental Health Workshop' or who have a good knowledge base of the different types/classifications of mental illness     

Course Objectives

  • To Increase partcipants' knowledge and skills in mental health practice  
  • To increase participants confidence in working more effectively with clients with mental health problems

Course Outline

By the end of this course participants will be able to understand:

  • Key principles of a mental health assessment, including undertaking mental state exams         
  • Physical, psychological and social aspects of mental health       
  • The revised Mental Health Act 2008and key amendments .   
  • Evidence based interventions for key mental health conditions, including pharmacological interventions
