What do adults really know about young people and drugs?

We listen to young people

Our Urban Youth Outreach Squad is a mobile drugs awareness youth service which comes to you.

"A key aim of the Governments Drug Strategy is protecting young people from becoming the problematic drug users of tomorrow"

Urban youth project aims to develop a service based on communicating and engaging with young people about their understanding of drug and alcohol related issues. The focus of urban youth is to give young people a voice and opportunity to express themselves.

We use a harm reduction model which is a public health approach to encourage young people to say how drugs relate to them in society. We use a number of creative ways to raise the issue which is both age and material appropriate.

  • Video Projects "Developing Multi-MediaSkills"
  • Game Shows "Fun and interactive"
  • Quizzes "Dispelling Myths and Providing Facts"
  • Replica Drugs "What to watch out for"
  • Drama Projects " Developing Self-Esteem"
  • Guest Speakers "The Real Deal Ex-Drug Users Sharing Their Experience"
  • Peer Education Programmes "An increasingly popular technique for communicating about drugs"
  • Research Projects "Exploring Public Opinions"

We can arrange a number of sessions which we would recommend for an effective programme to be run. Although we can arrange a one off session we would suggest a follow up evaluation though.
